I have been away forever, not going to go into everything thats happened over the last 4 months.

I am now living in England close to my family.

I had to leave my kettlebells behind in Canada, and i really lost my way with working out.

I finally got around to ordering a new kettlebell and today I did my 1st workout in 3 months, and did i ever forget just how effective the kettlebell is. My legs were shaking and my core is hurting.

Im really looking forward to making some serious progress this year and getting my body back into the shape it was in in October 09.

I passed

Posted in Cardio Training, Kettlebells, Motivation, Strength Training on 06/10/2009 09:07 am by admin

I know that I have been quiet here, but with moving last week and this week preparing for my exam lets say life has been CRAZY.

I did not get my usual workouts in, but with Mal not being around due to working and a Martial Arts trip I pretty much did it on my own (not complaining ) but moving boxes, furniture etc all day for 4 days you do not need to do anything else.

Yesterday I took my last Can Fit Pro personal training exam and I passed, so I am all finished and really looking forward moving forward. There are a few more smaller hurdles to get through, but they are all business related, I have also been working on a new site that will have all the information of what I will be offering.

As you know from my blogging, I do not like to use machines, I much prefer body weight, kettlebells, medicine balls, sledgehammers, tires, so this is how I will be training my clients. I want to show people that you do not need expensive gym memberships, equipment, that you do not need to spend hours working out.

Most of all I want to show people that working out is FUN.

Pity Party over …

Posted in Equipment, Goal setting, Kettlebells, Motivation, Trainng Aids on 05/01/2009 09:08 am by admin

I have been neglecting everything.  These past 6 weeks have been the worst of this year (life).  Not sure I even want to type out everything, as it is so hard to believe.   All I want to say now, is that its time to stop the pity party, find a new place to live, finish my personal training exam and MOVE FORWARD.

Fingers crossed that we manage to find a place that is close to where we live now, I have just got my both of my girls into the same school for the new school year, and I do not want to change that, also we need to live near to the Martial Art business that we run.  Mal has such little time at home at the moment that if we live further away he will not be able to come home to eat before leaving to teach, so that will suck.

I am sure in the next few months I will be able to understand why this happened, and realise that it was for the best, but at the moment I am having a hard time understanding it.

My weight has dropped to 129lbs, the lowest was 125lbs, but I have not been eating so once my appetite is back, im sure that I will be back to 131-133 again.  I have waited so long to break the 130lbs, and it being from this situation does not give me cause to celebrate.

I need to find my focus again, and someone to give me a kick up the butt!  I brought my kettlebells home from the Dojo so I will pick them up a few times a day.  I am planning on taking them to my daughters soccer practice and using the time that shes there to get some practice in.  I really want to get good at the hand to hand exercises.

This week I bought the gymboss timer, FINALLY ! LOL You can set it to run at different intervals, it will beep and/or vibrate so its perfect to clip onto your gym clothes when you are outside.  I have many different workouts that call for 1 minute sets and it is really hard to track the time when you are trying to do the exercises.  Plus think of all the tabatas you can do !!!

My goal for the next week is to make sure I get blogging again, my poor blog is neglected and I have some great material that I want to share.  I need to get back to eating my normal diet again, and not surviving on 3 coffees a day and little else. I will get back into my regular exercise routine.

Loving the DOMS

Posted in Cardio Training, Kettlebells, Motivation on 03/12/2009 08:10 am by admin

I keep forgetting to update my blog, we are in the middle of some major changes in our personal lives, no nothing bad, but truly exciting, I’m not sharing to world until we get confirmation ! ;0p

So my day is being taken up with tasks to do with that. There are actually 2 changes and its just very crazy to be going through them at the same time a year ago we did not even think that one of them was possible.

Back in November last year, I knew that this year was going to be GREAT. Even when we went through Mal being laid off in January and being off for a month, I knew that everything was going to be FINE.

A great friend of mine sent me a book called “Dandelion” by Sheelagh Mawe, if any of you are being consumed by negative thoughts, you really should take the time to read it. It really shows yous how much of an impact these thoughts have on you, and how much damage they do.

I really believe in visualisation, and since last fall I know that since shifting my mind to only positive thoughts my life is changing for the better.

This week I am back at the gym 100%, my workout on Monday was slower than normal and I needed to rest in between the sets but I kept the weight the same and just pushed though. I did

3 laps of the YMCA track (=400m)

25 Kettlebell swings (35lb)

2518″ box jumps

repeat all 3, 3 times

Yesterday i tortured myself doing this one

3 laps pf the YMCA track

50 push ups 10 squats

40 push ups 20 squats

30 push ups 30 squats

20 push ups 40 squats

10 push ups 50 squats

Finish with 3 laps of the YMCA track

Lets say today i am feeling the soreness kick in.

Back to it

Posted in Cardio Training, Kettlebells, Stretching on 02/17/2009 11:47 am by admin

I took Monday off for recovery, spending 16-17 hours exercising over 2 days take a huge toll on your body.

My youngest was in a soccer tournament and they had their last game, so we went to watch that. After the team went to Dairy Queen for their lunch and to have ice cream. We were also starving, have to say Dairy Queen is the WORST place to go to if you are trying to eat well. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken breast, you get a whole head of iceberg lettuce (yuck), couple of slices of tomato and about 1 oz of chicken. The salad was all brown and wilting. It took it back but all of the salads they had there were the same, so i went hungry.

My daughters ordered the chicken strips, and no fries. The options there are so limited. But when you are in a big group you just try to make the best choices. Needless to say we all left there hungry!

My quads are so fried from the weekend, the rest of my body is doing great, the hands are healing and the bruises are changing colour!

This morning i decided that I needed to run in the hope that it will help my legs recover. I ran a very very slow 5.5mph for 30 minutes, and then went and worked on my windmills with the kettlebell, and finished up with 30 minutes of dynamic stretching and foam rollering.

Tomorrow I go to have a small surgery and just like in the summer I will be unable to work out for 3 weeks. I will listen to the Docs this time and not push myself back too soon, but I will also make them define what they mean by strenuous lifting and cardio. Not strenuous cardio to me is not doing intervals but running at 6-7 mph.

Even though I’m not allowed to workout, I will focus on my stretching to improve my joint mobility, and I will be getting walking in for sure. Its totally frustrating as I want to be working hard and really pushing my kettlebell workouts, I will be training Mal so at least Im keeping on top of what I have learnt this weekend.

AGATSU Kettlebell Certification

Posted in Kettlebells, videos on 02/16/2009 08:18 pm by admin

I have just had the most amazing weekend. It was spent taking the Agatsu Kettlebell certification. 2 days of intense learning and working out.
Yesterday we spent the whole day on our feet, learning, performing the various exercises. Unlike other certifications that you can take, you are hands on the whole time, I loved this aspect. Shawn also makes sure that we can teach the exercises, so we would take it in turns teaching the other people on the course.

As I am someone new to training people, this was such a big help to me, it gave me confidence and also reinforced that I do know how to put my knowledge into words.

We also have set workout circuits to complete during the 2 days, one being called Chrissy.

We had to complete this workout at the end of day 1. Bear in mind we have been swinging the kettlebells all day. I cant wait to get over the muscle soreness that I have now, and try this workout fresh, just to see how much my time improve.

Check out this video clip.

Feels GOOD to be back on track

Posted in Goal setting, KettleBelleBody Challenge, Kettlebells, Motivation, Nutrition, Uncategorized on 01/26/2009 07:07 pm by admin

So yesterdays meal planning went well, and it really did make a difference to how I am feeling.

One of my most favorite saying is “Failing to plan, is planning to fail” so why did I let myself stop planning????

My workout this morning was amazing, I’m still doing the Kettlebellebody challenge and I am onto week 4 of that, I am seeing big improvements with my strength but not much in size, I know its because I lost focus with my diet.

I did 35lb Kettlebell single arm rows today, now these were supersetted in with walking lunges where I pass the kettlebell under my leg as I walk, I forgot that I needed to do the single arm row when I picked up the big kettlebell and when I was done the lunges on the track I remembered the exercise, I did not want to walk the rest of the track to get the lighter KB so I just sucked it up. Just shows me that sometimes my own mind is the thing holding me back.

My diet is A+ today :0)

Oatmeal and shake (1/3 cup uncooked oatmeal, then with boiling water added)

Banana bread, apple

Almonds 1 apple 1/2 cup carrots

Smoothie ( banana, 1/2 cup mango and 1/2 cup raspberries 3 table spoons of hemp protein podwer) water added to make it drinkable

Bison chili ( 1 ladle- need to see what this measures out to be. 1/2 cup cucumber 1/2 cup tomato

Just my last meal to fit in, it will be 1/2 cup cucumber and 1/2 cup tomato and 1/2 cup cottage cheese

Water is back on track and don’t I know it !!!!! LOL 50 million trips to the loo, well the benefit is getting in a few extra steps !!!!!!!!!

IM BACK AND IT FEELS GOOD
