Feels GOOD to be back on track

Posted in Goal setting, KettleBelleBody Challenge, Kettlebells, Motivation, Nutrition, Uncategorized on 01/26/2009 07:07 pm by admin

So yesterdays meal planning went well, and it really did make a difference to how I am feeling.

One of my most favorite saying is “Failing to plan, is planning to fail” so why did I let myself stop planning????

My workout this morning was amazing, I’m still doing the Kettlebellebody challenge and I am onto week 4 of that, I am seeing big improvements with my strength but not much in size, I know its because I lost focus with my diet.

I did 35lb Kettlebell single arm rows today, now these were supersetted in with walking lunges where I pass the kettlebell under my leg as I walk, I forgot that I needed to do the single arm row when I picked up the big kettlebell and when I was done the lunges on the track I remembered the exercise, I did not want to walk the rest of the track to get the lighter KB so I just sucked it up. Just shows me that sometimes my own mind is the thing holding me back.

My diet is A+ today :0)

Oatmeal and shake (1/3 cup uncooked oatmeal, then with boiling water added)

Banana bread, apple

Almonds 1 apple 1/2 cup carrots

Smoothie ( banana, 1/2 cup mango and 1/2 cup raspberries 3 table spoons of hemp protein podwer) water added to make it drinkable

Bison chili ( 1 ladle- need to see what this measures out to be. 1/2 cup cucumber 1/2 cup tomato

Just my last meal to fit in, it will be 1/2 cup cucumber and 1/2 cup tomato and 1/2 cup cottage cheese

Water is back on track and don’t I know it !!!!! LOL 50 million trips to the loo, well the benefit is getting in a few extra steps !!!!!!!!!

IM BACK AND IT FEELS GOOD

Wednesday’s workout

Posted in KettleBelleBody Challenge, Kettlebells on 01/21/2009 10:55 am by admin

This week is going awesome.   I am totally focused on my workouts, I’m working hard on the diet side but its still not 100%  arrgghhh.  Life throws us these challenges and I will overcome whats happening with my lack of focus.

I did a strength workout today, i went into the gym as I wanted to watch my form in the mirror, its all well and dandy thinking that you are doing awesome and adding weight but if your form is no good, you will end up injuring yourself.  It is much better to drop the weight slow down and focus on the muscles that are working, believe me you will get a much better workout.

One of the exercises is a 1 arm swing, I’m up to the 35lb Kettlebell now and today I did 2 sets of ladder swings.  So you do 5 on the left 5 on the right, then 4, 3, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.  This really got my heart rate up, oh and I also cleared a space around me in the busy gym !!! LOL  People are scared the kettlebell will go flying !!!

My goal for today is to stay on track, no BAD food allowed !

Windmill Kettlebell

Posted in KettleBelleBody Challenge, Kettlebells, videos on 01/19/2009 11:15 am by admin

Just got back from training at the Dojo, Im really enjoying training there, I have to go there 3-4 times a week to clean the mats etc so I took the KBs there as its a much nicer environment than my basement.

I am working really hard at getting my form corrected for the windmills, so I took some more video this morning.

Have a look and let me know. I added weight today and this helped me to slow my decent down, but wow what a difference weight makes.

Please critique me, I have really needed pointing in the right direction with this exercise.

KettleBelleBody challenge

Posted in KettleBelleBody Challenge, Kettlebells, Motivation on 01/16/2009 10:40 am by admin

Im 2 weeks into my challenge and things are going good. Im totally focused on my workouts, Im loving the new exercises.

The diet side of it is not going as well, but since yesterday I am back on track and already feeling better on the inside :0) Its taught me that you have to keep your eye on your goals ALL the time, the minute you loose focus you start to slip, and old habits start creeping back in.

Today The DOMS from this weeks workouts was hitting me pretty hard so I decided to delay my KettleBelleBody workout until tomorrow and have a slow steady run on the treadmill followed by lots of stretching to get help relieve some of the muscle soreness.

I feel so much better after doing this, and cant wait to hit my workout hard tomorrow.

It is so true that when we are working our bodies this hard that we really do have to listen to them, if we are feeling really sore, we have to slow down and take it easier. If we constantly push through and do not give our bodies time to heal and rest, we will end up with injuries, fatigue, burnout or illness. The in order to recover we will need to take an extended period of time off from working out, which could cause you to totally loose your motivation and habit of working out.

Slow Cooker Cajun Chicken

Posted in KettleBelleBody Challenge on 01/11/2009 08:55 pm by admin

So Sundays are supposed to be relaxing , not in my house !!!!

My youngest had her soccer game this morning, she had an awesome game and assisted in 2 of their goals.  We had enough time to come home and make lunch before my hubby had to leave to teach his jiu-jitsu classes.  He teaches a group of 5-8 year olds 1st then we join him and he teaches to our kids age group and then he finishes the day off teaching the adults.

We get home at 5.15pm and he finally gets home at 7pm.  As we knew the day was going to be busy I put the slowcooker on and made a cajun chicken.  It was so nice getting home and knowing that the supper was ready and all I had to do was cook some rice.

Im a week down on the KettleBelleBody challenge and things are going awesome, I’m loving the new workouts, I need to get serious about the diet though, with the stress of the exam and other situations here at home I have not given it the attention that it deserved, tomorrow I start over again and get serious with the Elimination Diet.

I took pictures again for the start of this challenge and I will post the befores and afters at the end of the Challenge.  You all saw what I did in 4 weeks, this time it is over 6 weeks so I am wanting more this time! :0)

Sunday and Monday

Posted in KettleBelleBody Challenge, Nutrition on 01/05/2009 10:53 am by admin

Took Sunday off from exercising, i need to learn not to go hard everyday. I will set myself up for an injury. Today, im just about to go downstairs to throw my kettlebells around.

I am back doing another KettleBelleBody challenge, Caroline has an awesome site over on Mission Slim Possible where we can chat with other people in the challenge and also log our workouts. I find it very inspirational, seeing what other people are facing each day but no matter what they are getting their workouts in.

Im getting into the Elimination Diet properly today, I had cleaned my diet up, but not 100% all the Christmas food is gone and its time to take it up a notch. My fridge is full of supportive foods and I am raring to go. No more caffeine for me, so watch for the headache posts ! lol

Only 3 days until my exam to say that Im feeling anxious is an understatement, I just want it done so I can focus on the next step of getting 20 hours training in and finding where I can take CPR and then start working, I am still undecided as to if I want to go it alone or work in a gym.

KettleBelleBody Challenge

Posted in KettleBelleBody Challenge on 01/03/2009 01:21 pm by admin

Yesterday was Day 1 of the 2nd KettleBelleBody challenge. It is called Love Your Body ! Due to the fact that it takes us to Valentines Day. I know that I accomplished in 4 weeks, and I am excited to see what I can do in 6.

This time I will be doing a multi focus 3 times a week. multi focus means that we are work on strength, core and cardio. You hit each aspect once a week. I will also be adding in some extra working out, either done as intervals or a Crossfit workout.

I have finally gotten around to ordering Precision Nutrition Version 3, but this does not come out until January 20th so I have to wait a while to get my copy, as I had lots of success with The Elimination Diet I will be following that until I get Precision Nutrition. Wish me luck with the caffeine withdrawals again :0) as I have allowed coffee back into my diet.

KettleBelleBody Transformation Contest Starts on January 2nd

Posted in KettleBelleBody Challenge on 12/26/2008 08:50 am by admin

Just had to announce that the next KettleBelleBody challenge starts on January 2nd. It is a 6 week challenge this time that will take us to Valentines day. You all saw what I accomplished in just 4 weeks so why not join me this time. You still have time left to buy KettleBelleBody and have a few days reading the information and getting used to the new exercises.

I am looking forward to hitting the Kettlebells hard again, I have taken a few days off over Christmas and this makes me appreciate what working out does for my mind as well as my body, as well as I needed a rest, I had gone hard for the last 6 weeks and my body needed a chance to fully recover.

Caroline is recommending a different nutrition programme this time it is Fat Loss Troubleshoot . I have not bought this programme yet, so I am unable to give you my opinion on it. However, I am sure that if Caroline is recommending it, it will be an awesome programme.

Well It is Boxing Day today, we are planning a big walk in the Provincial Park near us once the temperatures start to rise a little. I got a new digital camera for Christmas so I am really looking forward to being able to take some better pictures.  I don’t have any excuses now I have my flip camcorder, a regular camcorder and now this digital camera so I will be getting more shot of me working out as well as how to’s for some of my favorite exercises.
