updating

Posted in Holiday's on 08/02/2009 02:03 pm by admin

Hi everyone

My dog Lula is doing much better now, in fact she seems to think that she is ready to tackle stairs again. Mal and I want to avoid surgery so we are sticking to the vets orders and keeping her in just 1 room with nothing in to jump on.

As for working out … huummmm, being super lazy. Not got myself back into a routine yet, just been picking up my kettlebell at various times.

I NEED to get back on track, im feeling soft and squishy again, I do this every summer, I work my butt off in the gym all winter and then in the Summer when I should be rocking the bod and showing off the muscles, I get lazy. I put it down to the kids being off, but thats no excuse when you have everything that you need for a great workout in your back yard. Plus my kids are not babies now and they can come and workout with me, if im going for a run they can ride their bikes or even run with me.

The summer is the easiest time for your nutrition, there is an adundance of locally grown fresh produce, so there should be NO EXCUSES for not eating fresh foods. The nutrition side of things comes easily to me in the Summer, I am just a nightmare with my workouts.

Its time for the major kick up the butt and time to get moving forward.

Im worried about this blog, we really do not know whats happened to it. It says that it is a malicios site and google are blocking it. I have contacted google and also my hosting company. Tomorrow we are having one of our website builders have a look at it.

Im sorry if you cant read me at the moment, I do not steal information from you, if you have opted into my newsletter then I will have your email, but I only use that information to send out workingout tips.

While this is going on, I will still keep blogging.

yikes its been 5 days

Posted in Holiday's on 07/28/2009 01:02 pm by admin

So much for getting the post in the next day.

My poor dalmation is really sick and needing lots of attention. She has herniated discs in her back, we may be able to avoid surgery if she takes it really easy for 3 weeks.

We have given her a whole room and taken away every opportunity for her to jump onto a couch or walk up stairs. She was doing OK but now shes feeling a little better she wants to not be on her own. Its horrible seeing her shut off from the rest of us.

We all take it in turns to sit with her and give her lots of cuddles.

My exercising is almost nothing from since just before the holiday. This needs to be taken care of FAST.

On Sunday night we played parents V kids from my daughters football (soccer) team. What FUN, and boy are these girls fit. Im feeling it in my quads and core the most. It was great fun to do a new sport while having quality time with one of my girls.

i didnt play football as a kid, Rugby was my thing, so trying to control a ball with my feet was hilarious, however I could kick it just fine! I wanted to pick it up and have a run with it ! haha

My goal for the rest of this week is to make sure that Im posting to my blog, It will be fitness related.

Im not sure if some of you are having problems because I have not been posting much so google isnt liking it. I have checked things from my end and we cannot find any problems with it.

Let me know if you continue to receive error messages.

Been away too long

Posted in Holiday's on 07/23/2009 09:01 am by admin

Hi everyone

I have not blogged for so long…

I have been super busy and then away on vacation for 2 weeks.

Im back now and ready to get back on track and get swinging the kettlebells again.

I just had an email from one of the readers and she said that her computer is picking this site up as an attack site, I am able to look around it without any problems, but if any of you are also getting this message please could you let me know.

Ill be back tomorrow with a regular blog, for now, its back to unpacking the trailer washing and tending to a very poorly dog. Our dalmation is very sick, she is becoming paralysed we are off to see a specialist tomorrow to see what our options are.

Family Time

Posted in Holiday's on 12/28/2008 03:11 pm by admin

We are really enjoying just being home and not having to be rushing from one thing to another.  It is so nice to just be chilling and recharging our batteries.  We know that as soon as January hits we will be back to the regular schedule of running here and there nearly everyday of the week.

We are huge on family time so we all pick something that we want to do together, yesterday one of the girls chose Sledding, today we are off to the Zoo when it gets dark to have a walk around the zoo lights. I love the fact that my girls choose active things to do as a family, some of what Mal and I do must be rubbing off on them.

Doing a family activity doesn’t mean spending lots of money, in fact we have not spent any money yet, I bought the zoo tickets at the beginning of December.  We have a park in our neighbourhood that has an ice rink so we go there lots, we sled, we live near to a Provincial Park so we spend many hours in there exploring the different trails.  Just getting outside together and building a fort for a snowball fight is great fun, plus you are making lots of great memories.

Another trip out that we want to do is to drive to a trail that we have walked many times in the Spring and Summer, im interested to see what the trail looks like in the Winter.

I am in the final days before I take my 1st exam, im getting in a couple of hours of studying in everyday.  Im feeling pretty good about it, but still nervous !! It will be good to get it out of the way.

Goals for the week

Posted in Cardio Training, Goal setting, Holiday's, KettleBelleBody Challenge, Strength Training on 12/01/2008 02:47 pm by admin

Great workout this morning, I decided to go into the gym Mon, Wed and Friday and then do the Kettlebellebody workouts on Tue, Thu, Fri and Sat.

I did intervals for 30 minutes, walking for 4 and then as fast as i felt safe for 1 minute, i topped out at 11.4 mph ! I followed up with single arm rows and tricep dips, then overhead walking lunges and wall balls. All simple but effective exercises.

I am totally in the mood for Christmas this year, the house is decorated and the music is on! I have been and posted the Christmas cards, there are still a few to write but the bulk is done. It just cost me $100 just to post the cards.

I have no idea why, but I have so much energy today, instead of walking the dogs just now I ran. May be because it is 57 degrees here, not a cloud in the sky. I am sure that the weather is going to turn anyday now, but the fact I can run without breaking my neck on the ice is great for this time of year.

I wrote a new discussion over on my Fitness Chick facebook page about your goals for this week. If you want to make yourself accountable then join me over there, and we can support each other through the week. I know this time of year is hard to stay on track, with Christmas Parties, dinners drinks etc coming at you left right and center, but with a little planning everyday I know that you can get through it.

my goals are …

I will drink 9 glasses of water every day. My glasses hold 12 oz.
I will get some extra ‘cardio” in by walking the dogs further than normal.
4 Kettlebelle workouts this week
3 lots of interval training

Couple of tips to survive the Christmas Party

1. If you are going to a buffet then eat a meal before you go out, that way you will be as hungry and less likely to overeat. If you are having a potluck, why not take a healthy option like veggies and hummus, that way you know that there will be something great to munch on.

2. Fill your plate with the healthy options, that way there is less room for the other food.

3. Please please please do not drink and drive. There are many other options available such as a cab or drivers alternative where a company come and collect you and your car and drive you home.

Most of all have fun and enjoy yourself.

Weekends are for rest

Posted in Holiday's on 11/02/2008 05:46 pm by admin

Why does the weekend have to fly by so fast?  We barley seem to sit still for 5 minutes.

Trick and treating on Friday night was such fun, it was the 1st time since we have moved to Canada that there hasn’t been snow on the ground, and we even did not have to wear gloves and hats.  Of course the girls collected too much candy!  They sorted out what they wanted and then we have donated the rest.

I’m happy to report that i only had 1 piece of candy.  Strange that, considering i waited all day, i just didn’t feel like it.

This whole weekend the weather has been brilliant, considering its November and we are In Calgary, it was nearly 20 degrees c.  Woohoo bring it on.  We had the whole afternoon outside, i was thinking today i haven’t worked out this weekend, but considering that we were outside the whole afternoon, clearing the yard of the last of the leaves, moving the tent trailer around by hand, and just generally cleaning up ready for the Winter, i would say that was enough.  my core wasdefinitely worked out whilst raking leaves and then throwing the bags around! lol

Your body needs at least 1 days rest a week, so that you can rest and recuperate, and be ready to hit the next week at full force.  If you keep going day after day without resting there will come a day that your body will just give up on you and you will either end up getting sick with something like a cold, or you will get injured.

Same goes if you have a small injury or strained muscle, give it time to heal.  It is always better to take a couple of days off rather than pushing though and ending up with a more serious injury that needs months and months of work to get better.

Anyway, need to go relax with my kids, it has been a busy weekend.
