1st workout went well!

Posted in Fit Yummy Mummy on 08/06/2008 10:00 am by admin

I got to the gym last night and i did the Fit Yummy mummy workout, i just dropped the weights down. Then i did some light intervals on the treadmill (walking 4.5mph and changing the incline). Bear in mind that my normal speed on the tradmill is to take it easy at 6mph and sprint at 12 mph, so i was VERY GOOD!

I was surprised by the sweat that i got, but it felt so good!

Not much more to say, im starting to pack for the holiday, we are off again for a weeks camping, we leave on Friday morning. I should be able to check in a couple of times depends if i can find a starbucks ;0) Frustrated about the not being able to swim part, but Mals coming too so the girls are going to still have loads of fun in the water. We are going in a big group so i am certain we are going to make many awesome memories.

FYM workouts

Posted in Fit Yummy Mummy on 07/29/2008 02:13 pm by admin

My workouts are going super !!! It certainly is a change of pace from the Crossfit ones but i need it. My surgery is tomorrow, i haven’t been sleeping and I’m anxious to get it over and done with so i can move on. In my heart i know that I’m OK, but it still is a scary situation to be in. For all you girls out there, keep on top of your pap tests!!

I’m trying to think positive thoughts so that i don’t make myself take longer to recover, they said 3 weeks to heal, and no heavy exercise for 7-10 days. I’m not sure about swimming, i hope i can in 2 weeks, we are off on vacation again, if not ill be just wading in the water, and taking lots of film and piccies of the family. Its our 1st week away all together in a few years, sure we get away camping for weekends but a whole week !!! woohoo

I cant believe that i have already completed 1 week of the challenge, i weighed myself last night and I’m down a lb. Cool !!! Not as good as you Diana but ill take it ; 0 )

Keep your eye on the prize

xx

Entered the Fit Yummy Mummy contest !

Posted in Fit Yummy Mummy on 07/23/2008 09:02 pm by admin

I finally got around to entering the Fit Yummy Mummy contest (FYM).  I cannot wait to get started tomorrow.   My stats havent changed very much over the last 3 weeks so im happy about that !!

I go in for a small surgery next Wednesday and afterwards i am not allowed to do vigorous exercises for 7-10 days.   Those of you who read my blog know that i go pretty hardcore so me taming it down will be vigorous to some people.  I will see how i feel, i dont want this recovery to take any longer than necessary so i will not be stupid either.

im tired and im going to bed, last night we were woken at 4 am to the sound of screeching and then a hige smash, some idiot had crashed into a tree outside my house.  I ran outside but they had ran away,  how they ran away is beyond me the car was really smashed up.  My guess is that they were either drunk or driving a stolen car.  After the excitment of the police fire and ambulance coming i couldnt get back to sleep, so i watched a movie and then finally went back to sleep at 6am for a coulple of hours.

Fit Yummy Mummy

Posted in Fit Yummy Mummy on 06/07/2008 06:08 pm by admin

I really like the Fit Yummy Mummy website, it is a great community for women only. I joined it a while ago, i used to go to another forum but found that it was getting too petty and there were way too many non fitness related posts. Here you will find awesome fitness advice as well as how to videos. You can read members blogs, and get inspired by these amazing transformations.

For many of us we find an exercise in a book, or see someone performing it at the gym and think hey that looks cool, then we go ahead and try it out , this is the surefire way to get injured. Holly posts videos on her site with step by step directions and also variations of the exercise.

Best of all access to this membership site is free, once you get to the Fit Yummy Mummy site you go through a simple sign up process and then you have full access.

At the moment she has a great offer for you to try out the Fit Yummy Mummy system for $4.95 for 21 days, you also receive a VIP coaching program and access to coaching calls to jump start your journey. If you don’t like the system you can ask for your money back. I have the Fit Yummy Mummy system and I can really recommend it. Her writing is straight forward and to the point, there are photos for each exercise.

Just ran my 1st 5km !

Posted in Crossfit, Fit Yummy Mummy on 05/26/2008 12:19 pm by admin

I spent the weekend reading the nutrition section in the FYM book. Today i am going to finish writing my goals and i will get them added to my blog. I really think having them written down and defined will help me no end. I’m also inspired by some of you girls posting yours on the site.

I am starting with the nutrition as this is my problem. I miss meals in the day and then eat too much at night. I know what i need to do now its time to do it.

Anyway, twice a week i go to Crossfit classes, for those of you who dont know what this is think crazy bootcamp, olympic lifting, gymnastics, cardio …. I really do not want to give this up, as since i have incorporated this style of working out i have made big changes with my body. This mornings workout was a 5km run, this was given to improve your indurance. I was so scared i have never run this far since i was a kid, I am always up for trying something new.

My cardio for the last 3-4 years has consisted of interval training, as you know from Hollys book this is the way to go. I love getting it done in around 20 minutes then for the next day enjoying the benefits of a boosted metabolism. I never paid attention to how far i have gone.

There were 5 of us in class today, another guy and 1 are the same age the rest are 20 year olds, i thought well here we go, im getting my butt kicked. We started out and i decided to go steady, i was thinking that i was running at about 6 mph. I pulled away from everyone, i knew that my speed was not too fast, so i just got into a rytham and concentrated on going forward.

We had to run out to a set point and then run back the same way, on my return i was about 200m ahead of the next person and 1km ahead of the rest. All the time i thought that the guy behind me would overtake on the home stretch. I decided to push myself on the hills rather than slowing down too much. I looked behind and found that i had pulled further away from the next person, i knew that i would not be caught and i just tried to keep that same pace up.

I finished it in 24min 40 secs in 1st place, the next person was 27 minutes and the others were 33 minutes. Not bad for being one of the oldest there!!!! Plus it was on a hilly outdoor course.

I feel so proud to be able to run that far, and not end up walking.

I really must look around and see if there are any races that i can go into around Calgary, i think having an actual goal like that to aim towards will really inspire me more.

Crossfit Okotoks Week 8

Posted in Crossfit, Fit Yummy Mummy on 05/21/2008 11:31 am by admin

Just back from Crossfit Okotoks, we revisited the workout from the 1st week. It consisted of

25 wall balls 13lbs

25 walking lunges (each leg)

25 push ups

25 crossover sit ups

25 squats

10 stair runs.

My time the 1st time was 33.09, today i totally smashed it and finished in 24.33, thats 8.36 mins FASTER !!!!!

What a great boost!

Feeling great!

I have been reading Fit Yummy Mummy and while i will not follow the workouts, due to the success with Crossfit, i will be taking her nutrition plan in and using her guidelines. She focuses on setting a goal or 2 every day, and really working on it. Such as I will eat breakfast! I will eat 5-6 meals …. It is then split into 4 stages and each stage you focus on different aspects. I never want to count a calorie, but getting in touch with correct portion sizes is something that i really need to work on. I also love the way she focuses on getting fruit and vegetables in at every meal, when its done this way you do not have to worry about missing nutrients from your diet, when i was following Body for Life i found fruits and vegetables were lacking from my meals.

AS a mum you are so busy, i believe that setting smaller goals everyday rather than trying to do everything all at once, will get you to your ultimate goal faster, as you take some of the pressure off yourself. One of the girls in Crossfit this morning was moaning about her not being able to loose weight, we said what do you eat for breakfast? Well she was eating a mint, this was her breakfast! Then she said it must be the weekends that do the damage as she confessed to eating cakes, Macdonalds etc, in the same breath she actually said well i did eat MacDonald’s yesterday. The other big no no she said was that she does not eat carbs, come on people we need carbs in our body !

The trainer said to keep a food journal for a week, and log everything even the 1 m and m that you mindlessly pop into your mouth, if she does this truthfully we will be able to see where the hidden foods are that will be holding her back.
